“The means to gain happiness is to throw out from oneself like a spider in all directions an adhesive web of love, and to catch in it all that comes.” Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
A few months ago, I was tasked with the project of increasing Ed4Career’s exposure in Social Media. I was a Facebook frequenter, had my own Pintrest account, and had set up a (somewhat lackluster) profile on LinkedIn many years ago. I’d never Tweeted, but how hard could that be? To say I was naïve to the magnitude of Social Media Marketing for today’s small businesses is to be more than kind. J
Most businesses use social media as a vehicle for their content to connect with customers, partners, vendors and industry experts. We want to do the same – and our target audience is large and varied. Our goal is to become the leading aggregator of online education information. And our journey is just beginning.
Ed4Career offers one of the largest proprietary career course catalogs in the market today. We are constantly adding to and updating our course offerings to meet current and future demand. We value the input of students, colleges, colleagues and the general public at all times and are hoping that social media will provide the appropriate avenues for that communication.
I get a kick out seeing one of our quotes or posted articles being re-tweeted or shared, or seeing the thumbs up “like” symbol on a post on Facebook. We all know the possible gains that Social Media might bring to our business, but I’m equally excited about the added personal gains and benefits that evolve over time as connections are made and our contacts expand. Like the many interconnecting silk strings of a spider’s web; information posted online flows in various directions, connecting us to people far and wide and allowing us the opportunity to share news and thoughts with one another.
If you have any stories you’d like to share about your own marketing endeavors through social media; I’d love to learn from you. We currently can be found on Twitter (@Ed4Career), LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com/pub/Ed4Career-llc/53/588/8aa/), Facebook (Ed4Career LLC), and Pintrest as well as through our blogs on our fantastic new website, www.Ed4Career.com.
