Twenty-four Hours in a Day

Clock

In this time of crazy schedules and always trying to cram more things into a busy day, I keep coming back to the saying, “there are only 24 hours in a day”.   We all have the same 24 hours, but for many people that just does not seem like enough time to get everything that needs to be done, well…… done.

When we look at all of the things vying for our attention; family, work, school, home, etc. the daily “needs” can seem overwhelming.  When you feel overwhelmed, it might be time to take a step back and evaluate where you are.

Taking a realistic look at the 24 hours you have in your day and prioritizing what can realistically be accomplished in them is a budget.  Just as we budget our money – we need to budget our time effectively to avoid overdrawing on our resources (energy) or pulling much needed resources away from something else more important (family).

This will take practice – you will need to set goals and boundaries for yourself.  Some days, you’ll meet those goals, some days you won’t.  But the purpose is to get closer to a life balance that will leave you feeling fulfilled.

Regardless of how you budget your time, strive to be “mindful in the moment” – because a day is quite simply a compilation of “moments”, isn’t it?
