Selecting a degree or deciding what career training path is ideal for you can be difficult. Don’t waste time and money going after a career that won’t fulfill you. Understanding a little more about your personality and temperament will narrow down choices and direct your path toward a job that can make you happy!
The 16 personality types were created by Isabel Myers and Katharine Briggs, developers of the MBTI® assessment. Myers and Briggs created their personality typology to help people discover their own strengths and gain a better understanding of how people are different from one another.
According to the website, Truity, "Personality typing is a system of categorizing people according to their tendencies to think and act in particular ways. Personality typing attempts to find the broadest, most important ways in which people are different, and make sense of these differences by sorting people into meaningful groups."
Personality types are so unique and are determined by type.
- Introvert and Extrovert
- Sensing and Intuition
- Thinking and Feeling
- Judging and Perceiving
And determined by temperament:
- Traditionalists
- Experiencers
- Idealists
- Conceptualizers
Knowing your personality type and temperament will help guide you to a career you’ll be well-suited for.
Don’t know much about your personality type or temperament? Perhaps you could take the Myers Briggs test. While the official, MBTI-branded version of the test is paid, there is a free version available that many people find to be just as helpful: the 16 Personality Types test.
