Speaking another language can seem daunting at first, but Spanish is one of the easier languages to learn, especially for native English speakers. This course will include a review of basic Spanish grammar and vocabulary, how to talk about transportation, shopping, clothing, leisure activities, food, household goods, and more.  Recommendation: Spanish I.

    Have you ever wondered what it actually takes to produce a movie? There are many components that need to be developed before it hits the big screen. In this Film Appreciation course, we will explore the aesthetics of cinema, the concepts behind storytelling, and various elements of a film. We examine the elements of what makes a ‘good’ film and understand the role movies play in our daily lives and in society.
  • English Composition II

    In our Composition II course, we examine the processes of topic concentration, research, and writing to produce well thought out and logical types of writing. We discuss how to compose a variety of writings, such as narratives, descriptive essays, reviews, proposals, arguments, and research papers. We dive into the research and writing process by exploring how to locate and evaluate good sources and read critically.
  • English Composition I

    This course introduces you to the essential foundations of college level writing. Our Composition I course provides an overview of academic and professional writing, research, planning, drafting, and publishing. The basic fundamentals are covered from the ground up; from structuring and developing a paper, crafting topics, creating outlines and revising, editing, grammar, and proofreading skills. You will be introduced to the general processes of communication through writing and reading.
  • Spanish I

    Spanish is spoken by millions around the world as well as in the United States. Not only is Spanish a useful language to learn, it also has a rich history around the world. This course will introduce you to the basics of verb conjugation, helpful vocabulary, and explore the Spanish culture. Whether you are taking this course because you have always wanted to speak Spanish or because you need to learn Spanish to communicate at work and in your community, get ready to dive into the Spanish language!
  • Computer Basics: Digital Literacy

    In this fast paced world of technology, it is important to be computer literate. Computer Basics gives students a better understanding of computers and many fascinating components of the digital world. This course introduces learners to basic hardware, such as traditional desktops, tablets and mobile applications. We will take a look at different types of browsers, tools that can enhance productivity, data storage options and proper internet searching techniques.
  • Sociology

    We live in a world of rapid development and change, both in how people interact thanks to technology and the evolution of social stratification. Sociology is defined as the study of groups and group interactions, societies and social interactions, from small, personal groups to very large groups. Our Sociology course covers the fundamentals of these interactions and we also take a deeper look into how global inequality, the economy, gender, marriage, religion and social movements play a role in our ever-changing society and personal lives.
  • Social Psychology

    Social psychologists investigate how we view ourselves and others, how we interact with others, how we influence others, and how we act when we are part of a group. Given the amount of time each of us spend thinking about and interacting with the people we encounter every day, much of our lives are spent with the subject matter of social psychology. You encounter social psychology in your day-to-day life, and a textbook on social psychology should reflect that. This course draws on experiences we might encounter to enhance learning of social psychological theories and concepts.

    Our Business Law course introduces both traditional law topics, such as contracts, property, torts, as well as legal issues relating to the internet, employment, and international law. A number of examples and case studies are highlighted throughout the course to better enable understanding of various topics and practical situations. Awareness of basic legal principles is one of the best risk management tools for any businessperson. This course will help you examine the ways in which society functions and the potential effects of the legal system on businesses.
  • Social Problems

    Understanding how to apply knowledge of social problems to our own lives can be sometimes difficult. Our Social Problems course provides a comprehensive view of different issues and explores societal consequences. We explore problems and solutions through several pedagogical means, such as case studies, data collection, and research methods. We take a look at a variety of topics, such as health care, crime, poverty, inequality, population growth, aging, environmental troubles, and world conflicts.
